BNF Factory Setup

This drone is delivered as a BNF, which means Bind-and-Fly.

It comes assembled and factory configured with a Betaflight preset already installed. No firmware update, reset, or Betaflight changes are required before the first flight.

The drone still needs to be bound to a compatible radio controller before flying. Angle Mode is enabled by default to make first flights safer and reduce the risk of accidents during initial setup.

The DJI O4 Air Unit Pro handles the video link. The selected receiver/control version determines how the drone receives radio-control input.

DJI Controller Version
Choose the DJI version if you want to control the drone with DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 or DJI FPV Remote Controller 3.
This version is configured for DJI SBUS control. Additional SBUS and GND wires are connected to the flight controller for DJI remote-control input.

Important: The DJI Controller version is intended for DJI remote control use. To use ELRS or TBS Crossfire instead, a separate receiver must be installed and correctly configured. This may require disconnecting the DJI SBUS wiring or using another UART for receiver input.

ELRS 2.4GHz Version
Choose this version if you use an ELRS 2.4GHz radio, such as an iFlight Commando 8 or Commando 14 ELRS 2.4GHz.

ELRS 868/915MHz Version
Choose this version only if your radio or module supports ELRS 868/915MHz.
ELRS 2.4GHz and ELRS 868/915MHz are not compatible with each other.

TBS Crossfire Version
Choose this version if you use a TBS Crossfire radio or module.

Battery Recommendations

This drone is designed for 6S batteries.

Most pilots use batteries between 1380mAh and 2400mAh.

Freestyle / responsive flying:

Important Li-Ion note:

Li-Ion batteries behave differently from LiPo batteries and may require adjusted Betaflight voltage warnings.

 

Action Camera Support

The Nazgul Evoque F5 V3 has a front mounting position for a GoPro or similar action camera when used with a compatible mount.

Adding an action camera increases takeoff weight, changes handling, increases current draw, and usually reduces flight time.

Can I fly in rain or wet conditions?
No. Do not fly in rain, snow, wet grass, fog, or high moisture conditions. Water or moisture damage is not considered a normal manufacturing defect.

This product is sold as a BNF drone.

BNF means Bind-and-Fly: the drone is assembled, tuned, and equipped with the selected receiver/video system, but it must still be bound to a compatible radio controller before flying.

If you need a complete FPV setup, we also offer ReadyFly kits in our shop. Our ReadyFly kits allow you to mix and match compatible components such as goggles, radio controller, batteries, charger, and accessories.

Choose this BNF drone if you already have compatible equipment.

Choose a ReadyFly kit if you want a more complete FPV setup with the main components selected together.

 

Required to Fly

This is a BNF drone, not a complete ReadyFly kit.

You still need:

  • Compatible FPV goggles
  • Compatible radio controller matching the selected receiver version
  • Suitable 6S battery
  • 6S-compatible LiPo/Li-Ion balance charger
  • microSD card for onboard recording, if required

The DJI O4 Air Unit Pro handles the video link. The selected receiver/control version determines how the drone receives radio-control input.

DJI Controller Version
Choose the DJI version if you want to control the drone with DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 or DJI FPV Remote Controller 3.
This version is configured for DJI SBUS control. Additional SBUS and GND wires are connected to the flight controller for DJI remote-control input.

Important: The DJI Controller version is intended for DJI remote control use. To use ELRS or TBS Crossfire instead, a separate receiver must be installed and correctly configured. This may require disconnecting the DJI SBUS wiring or using another UART for receiver input.

ELRS 2.4GHz Version
Choose this version if you use an ELRS 2.4GHz radio, such as an iFlight Commando 8 or Commando 14 ELRS 2.4GHz.

ELRS 868/915MHz Version
Choose this version only if your radio or module supports ELRS 868/915MHz.
ELRS 2.4GHz and ELRS 868/915MHz are not compatible with each other.

TBS Crossfire Version
Choose this version if you use a TBS Crossfire radio or module.
If you are unsure which version fits your radio, contact us before ordering.

 

Battery Recommendations

This drone is designed for 6S batteries.

Most pilots use batteries between 1380mAh and 2400mAh.

Freestyle / responsive flying:

  • 6S 1380–1550mAh high-discharge LiPo
  • Cinematic / GoPro flying:
  • 6S 1550–1850mAh high-discharge LiPo

Longer cruising:

  • 6S 1850–2400mAh high-discharge LiPo

Maximum endurance / smooth cruising only:

  • DOGCOM 6S1P 4000mAh Li-Ion
  • DOGCOM 6S1P 5000mAh Li-Ion

Important Li-Ion note:

Li-Ion batteries are only recommended for smooth cruising and endurance-focused flying. They are not suitable for aggressive freestyle, racing, repeated punch-outs, or high-current flying.

Li-Ion batteries behave differently from LiPo batteries and may require adjusted Betaflight voltage warnings.

 

Action Camera Support

The Nazgul Evoque F5 V3 has a front mounting position for a GoPro or similar action camera when used with a compatible mount.

Adding an action camera increases takeoff weight, changes handling, increases current draw, and usually reduces flight time.

The maximum video transmission range depends on goggles, region, environment, antenna positioning, interference, and local regulations.

Manufacturer-stated reference values may differ between FCC, CE, and SRRC regions. In Europe, CE limits apply.

Do not treat maximum transmission range as a guaranteed flight distance.

Setup Notes

  1. The drone comes with a factory Betaflight preset installed. No firmware update, reset, or Betaflight changes are necessary before the first flight.
  2. BNF means the drone must still be bound to your compatible radio controller before flying.
  3. Angle Mode is enabled by default to make first flights safer and reduce the risk of accidents during initial setup.
  4. GPS Rescue is not enabled by default. It must be configured, checked, and tested by the pilot before use.
  5. We strongly recommend not flashing firmware, resetting Betaflight, or applying random presets unless you have saved a backup and know exactly which target and configuration are required.

Important Notice – VTX Not Powering On

After flashing new firmware, resetting Betaflight, or applying the wrong preset, the VTX_ON_OFF mode may be disabled or removed.

If this mode is not active, the DJI O4 Air Unit may not receive power and may remain off.

Please make sure that VTX_ON_OFF is enabled in the Betaflight Modes tab.

If the mode is missing, restore the factory configuration using the correct recovery preset.

Reflashing firmware is usually not required.

 

FAQ

What does BNF mean?
BNF means Bind-and-Fly. The drone is assembled and factory configured, but it must still be bound to your compatible radio controller before flying.

Is this a complete ready-to-fly set?
No. This is the BNF drone only. Battery, charger, goggles, radio controller, microSD card, and action camera are not included.

Which receiver version should I choose?
Choose the version that matches your radio controller.

  • Use DJI for DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 or 3.
  • Use ELRS 2.4GHz for iFlight Commando 8 or Commando 14 ELRS 2.4GHz.
  • Use ELRS 868/900MHz only for matching ELRS 868/900MHz radios or modules.
  • Use TBS Crossfire if you fly with Crossfire.

Does the drone come preconfigured?
Yes. The drone comes with a factory Betaflight preset installed. No firmware update, Betaflight reset, or configuration change is necessary before the first flight.

Is Angle Mode enabled?
Yes. Angle Mode is enabled by default to make first flights safer and reduce the risk of accidents during initial setup.

Is GPS Rescue enabled by default?
No. GPS Rescue is not enabled by default. It must be configured, checked, and tested by the pilot before use.

Why does the DJI O4 Air Unit or VTX not power on?
After flashing firmware, resetting Betaflight, or applying the wrong preset, the VTX_ON_OFF mode may be disabled or removed. If this mode is not active, the DJI O4 Air Unit may not receive power.

Can I use a GoPro or action camera?
Yes. The frame has a front mounting position for a GoPro or similar action camera when used with a compatible mount. Additional payload increases weight and usually reduces flight time.

Can I fly in rain or wet conditions?
No. Do not fly in rain, snow, wet grass, fog, or high moisture conditions. Water or moisture damage is not considered a normal manufacturing defect.
